Alena Dubauskaya is a native of Minsk, Belarus.
She received a Bachelor of Arts in music degree, with emphasis in teaching piano, from Belarussian State Pedagogical University. After graduation, she worked for 5 years at the State School of Aesthetic Arts, teaching private piano and directing a school choir.
In 2002 Alena received a scholarship and entered the music program at Portland State University, where she worked for a Master of Arts in Teaching degree, which she finished two years later. She studied piano with Mary Kogen, Carol Rich and Harold Gray.
In 2004, Alena was a recipient of the STAR award from MTNA in recognition of excellence in academic achievement, successful teaching experience, and demonstrated leadership abilities.
In January 2006, Alena became a MTNA nationally certified piano teacher, which led her to become OMTA syllabus adjudicator. Alena is an active member of OMTA, Portland district. She has been serving as Bethany Syllabus chairman, helping to organize and schedule the exams for students and teachers in the Bethany district.
In addition to running a private piano studio, Alena often performs at private concert settings, playing jazz and classical music.
