  • Warthog Productions (Hans Thiemens/ Luuk de Weert) published a double cd, N-gines, using my Modulare tool in some of their takes. Very enjoyable listening. www.warthogproductions.nl
  • An ambient piece, called "I promise you". Part of the Ambient Online 9 collection.
  • A collaboration wih the canadian artist SanBase: here or here (low resolution, audio and video). Background melodic texures designed for accompaining the stunning SanBase visuals.
  • Peter Liepa used an extract from Voices from OuterSpace (see below) as background for a math video (Kleinian Group Limit Set) here: http://vimeo.com/17060894
  • Husk (greets Luca!) modified the OuterSpace patch and used it as part of the installation "Sonando Satellites" http://estereotips.net/sonando-satelites/

Pure Data Projects (Ambient)

SuperConducting Helium - This one is hosted on SoundCloud: http://soundcloud.com/albertoz/superconductinghelium. It is a stack of 16 1-minute files obtained from OuterSpace PureData patch, mixed in Reaper.

Voices from OuterSpace - Download the file. Sit down. Press play on your favourite mp3 player. Close your eyes. Relax. 10 minutes in the OuterSpace...

MicroWorldSounds - Abstract piece coming from a MicroElectronic world. Done with Mondrian.

Algorithmic

First Sun of 2008 - Generated using KeyChaos, using the Lorenz attractor. Sounds from ZynAddSubFX synth. Get the MP3 here.

It's still there - Generated using KeyChaos. using the Henon attractor. Sounds from ZynAddSubFX synth. Here. The result is, IMO, particularly interesting from a melodic point of view.

Electronica

While I was dreaming - The piece is completely inspired by the great z3ta+ VSTi in one of its mod form, Virus z3ta+. Pure emotional feeling.

Aurora - Very old piece (summer 1997), almost entirely composed on my Korg N364 workstation. More recently it was recorded "analog" track by track in Sonar and “remastered” there. It's a melodic piece, with some piano solo. (Thanks to Michele Scotti for pointing out the wrong link!)

Experimental

Harping in an Expresso Fashion - This piece features one of the most curious patches of the z3ta+ VSTi, “MegaSwellPad”, which is the opening sound of the piece. The first time I heard it I was astonished by the modulations it had. The melodic lines are created by using the Keykit “Expresso” tool. This tool generates complex melodic patterns by manipulating a simple expression, let's call it “X”. Several transformations are applied to X, (see the powerful phrase manipulation of keykit). The user defines which transformations can be applied, the number of them and the random seed. In this sense each result is unique. The piece is structured with a constantly evolving pad sounds under the surface and an harp which performs the different melodic lines obtained by “Expresso”. The dark start slightly opens to a sunny final, in which the harp is left alone with a kind of traditional piece. It's surprising the different results that can be obtained with Expresso. Each harp section also provide a kind of rhythmic structure to the piece.

QuixEthereal - Here the music flows apparently random and it is “ethereal” in the sense that the sounds generators were chosen to be delicate and smooth. The result is a kind of “ambient music”, “background music”. Keykit was used to generate four instances of the “Quix” tool. Quix resembles an old arcade game in which an electric “quix” follows the player, which had to avoid its contact and colouring most part of the screen. Each sound, sent via MIDI to the external synth (Korg N364), is generated each time the quix touches the walls.
