Applied Industrial Organization
Course description
This course introduces students to empirical methods in Industrial Organization. The course is mainly computer-based and takes place in a computer lab (Aula DOS).
The first part of the course uses the software Comlabgames to cover different topics in game theory related to industrial organization.
The second part of the course focuses on various applications of industrial organization using the econometric package STATA.
Occasionally, some applied papers may be reviewed during the course.
By the end of the course students are expected to be able to design and run their own games/experiments on the computer, to analyze data and produce econometric inference.
Course pre-requisites
This course is self-sustained and there are no pre-requisites to attend this course. Basic knowledge of game theory and econometrics may help, but it is not compulsory.
Assessment
Written exam in the computer lab.
