Biography

Coming from a family of artists and decorators since 1843, Albert Jobbé Duval, from an early age, was immersed in the world of Art, when restoring the paintings in his father's workshop, at 13 years old.

In 1978, at 20 years old, he opened a contemporary art gallery before returning to the restoration of paintings.

In 1983, in Paris, he opened his first studio, where sculpting and painting restoration happily mix.

In 1987, working one of his sculptures, he discovered special properties of color. He invented the "dynamic theory of colour"

This theory is widely adopted since 1988 by Laurent Nottale, CNRS, Laboratory Universe and Theories (luth).

1988, he creates The Atelier Cabane in Rennes and develops research on non-destructive diagnosis of pictorial works.

It was only in 1994 that will begin to take it seriously when Jacques Lewiner encourage him to continue his research.


1994, Albert Jobbé Duval created the first digital laboratory examinations of pictorial works.

He develops algorithms on two axes, the "Faber" and "Sapiens" systems.


1996, these two entities were grouped in a general imaging protocol; and dynamic image patent was filed (patent: WO 1997038397 A1).

In 1998, he creates the CABANE IDENTIFICATION laboratory Paris.

Between 2000 and 2010, he develop his research on X-rays through the support of Professor Mountagne (Trousseau Hospital, Paris).


In 2001, Professors Marion and Montagne validated a protocol for isolating colour information in the X-ray.


in 2005, he settled in Saint Malo area.


Albert Jobbé Duval has collaborated with the Thomson LER laboratory, in the creation of SIAM software ( Vasari project) to equip Europeans Museums (C2RMF) and the National Gallery Research Centre, London).

Encouraged by professor Jacques Lewiner (ESPCI) to continue his research. He collaborated with Professor André Marion from The IOTA in Orsay. And developed his work on "the colour dynamic mechanics ".

After the unexpected death of Professor Marion, he decided not to publish its results.

He teaches at EAC, Paris since 2005.
