Biography

Ajay Subramanian is the Bruce A. Palmer Professor in the Departments of Risk Management and Insurance, Finance and the Institute for Insight at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. He holds a B. Tech in Engineering Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay; a Master's in Physics from Stony Brook University, and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Cornell University.


His research is interdisciplinary and spans financial economics, insurance economics, operations research and management science, and applied mathematics. A central theme in his published and ongoing research is the investigation of how risk and uncertainty affect the incentives and actions of agents in financial markets, and how the interactions among agents affect the functioning of markets.


Dr. Subramanian has published articles in premier journals in financial economics, operations research and management science, accounting, insurance and actuarial science, applied mathematics, and theoretical physics. He has presented his research at leading universities and at academic conferences in these different fields such as the American Finance Association, Western Finance Association, the NBER Corporate Finance and Law and Economics Program Meetings, Econometric Society World Congress, Econometric Society North American Winter Meetings, Society for Financial Studies Cavalcade, Bachelier Finance Society World Congress, the INFORMS Applied Probability Society Meetings, the SIAM Conference on Financial Mathematics, the Stanford Institute of Theoretical Economics, the University of Chicago Accounting Theory conference, the Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance, the Risk Theory Society, the Foundation for Advanced Research in Financial Economics, and the International Congress on Actuarial Science and Quantitative Finance.
