Halloween Trivia Night

Monday 10/31/2022 - 5:30pm - AERO 120

AIAA, WoAA, SRL, AMSRO, and SEDS are joining forces to bring students an Aerospace/Halloween themed trivia night! There will be pizza, candy, drinks, and prizes!!

Gather your friends and assemble in teams of up to 4 and brush up on your aerospace knowledge! The top 3 trivia teams will be given prizes and the best costume will also receive a prize. We can't wait to see you there!

AIAA Annual Technical Symposium

Wednesday 9/28/2022 - 8am-6pm - University Memorial Center (UMC)

Come join us for ATS on Wednesday and get connected with the Aerospace industry. There are over 90 professional speakers including the keynote speakers in the flyer below. There will also be food and presentations of research. See you there!

AIAA Kickoff Social Thursday 9/22/2022 - 5:30pm-7:30pm

Join us for our first event of the school year! We will be holding a social in either AERO 120 or outside behing the Aerospace Building. We will be serving pizza and drinks, so come hungry and have fun chatting with other like-minded aerospace students and faculty!

Immersion Fair Thursday 9/01/2022 - 3pm-6pm

Come find us at the Immersion Fair in the Herbst Plaza outside the Engineering Center! We will be meeting students interested in joining AIAA and all the benefits that go along with it!

AIAA is hosting guest speaker Cheryl O'Keefe CU Boulder aerospace engineering alumni. Cheryl serves on the AIAA Board of Trustees and is currently a technical staff member in the Advanced Capabilities and Systems group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. She will be talking about her background and experience at CU, lending her advice to students going into the aerospace workforce, and answering any questions students might have.

AIAA at CU Boulder is proud to host a movie technical breakdown of the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey! Bobby Hodgkinson along with Dr. Johnson will be talking with our special guest Prof. Sunberg.

AIAA at CU Boulder is hosting a guest speaker panel where we will be talking with three CU Aerospace Engineering Alumni about their journey from college into the professional world.

This event is a great opportunity to meet young professionals working at some amazing aerospace companies and learn about what they do, what it takes to land a job in the industry, and gain some tips on how to apply and interview for jobs. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A from the audience.

This month Smead Aerospace Engineering Instructors Dr. Johnson and Bobby Hodgkinson along with featured guests, Prof. Anderson and Prof. Holzinger, will be discussing the Movie Gravity! The event will be centered around a technical discussion of the movie and is a great opportunity to learn more about astronautics.

The CU Boulder chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) along with the Engineering Social Club will feature a discussion on the movie Top Gun next week! On Thursday, November 5th, at 5:30 PM join Smead Aerospace Engineering Instructors Dr. Aaron Johnson and Bobby Hodgkinson as they converse with fellow Aerospace Instructor, John Mah, who spent 20 years in military intelligence and dabbles in aircraft design.

The discussion will center around a technical dissection with hints of humor (or humor with hints of technical discussion) on what is arguably Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise’s best appearances. Please consider watching the film ahead of time as there will be spoilers.

Hello AIAA,

The AIAA CU Student Branch, sponsored by a generous donation from Lockheed Martin, is able to offer FREE admission to the Wings over the Rockies Museum this Saturday, April 22nd, to the first 40 students who sign up. General admission is ordinarily $12.50.

Dr. G will be at the museum admission desk from 1-3pm to pay admission for those students who signed up. For hours and driections, the museum website is:

Note that a special exhibit is begin featured, the DaVinci Machines Exhibitions, which cost $20, including museum admission. AIAA will cover up to $12.50 of that cost should you choose that ticket option. (You pay $7.50!)

Internship Mixer/ Holiday Party!

On Thursday, December 4th at 5:30 pm CU AIAA will be hosting a mixer to relax and meet others in the community before finals! Come share your intern experiences or meet people who have already had internships to see what you can do to snag one yourself! Of course there will be food and drinks.

On Tuesday, November 18th at 5:30 pm in ECCR 265, We will be hosting several engineers from the Lockheed Martin Orion Program. There will be a presentation on the EFT-1 flight coming in early December followed by a Q&A session with the engineers. This presentation will provide perspective on what engineering is like in the industry! There will be talk from a systems engineer, analyst and designer. The presentation will be wrapped up by recruiting. As always there will be pizza and soda provided.
