Teacher Bio

Hello all,

My name is Nick Phillips, and I am entering my seventh year at Alpharetta High School where in addition to teaching I am the Varsity Girls Head soccer coach and a cross-country assistant coach. Having grown up outside the Washington D.C. area, I have had the wonderful opportunity to experience American History close up. I moved to Fulton County in 2003 and later graduated from Chattahoochee High School, where I ran cross-country, track, and played club soccer. In 2012, I graduated from the University of Georgia with degrees in History and Social Studies Education. I also earned my Masters degree from UGA in December 2016. GO DAWGS!!!  After the 2016-2017 school year I left Alpharetta High School to pursue my PhD at Auburn University. My dissertation Teaching Controversial Issues during a Presidential Election: Exploring How Teachers Navigated Polarized Politics in 2020 followed two 7th grade civics teachers and two 12th grade government teachers as they taught during the 2020 election.

In addition to my time at Alpharetta, I spent the 2012-2013 school year teaching at Hillgrove High School in Cobb County and was the Head Coach of the JV boys soccer team. I am looking forward to another successful year both in the classroom and on the field.

Go Raiders!
