The purpose of this class is to have an in depth exploration of the history of art from the pre-historic to the present. We will accomplish this through readings, research, looking at art work (in books, power points, and at museums), and class discussions. We will learn to identify and critically analyze a work of art by taking in consideration the cultural, social, and political context of the era, the patronage, the medium, and formal qualities in each work of art. We will have many written assignments and tests to prepare for the AP Art History exam.
