The purpose of the AP course in statistics is to introduce students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing and drawing conclusions from data. The ultimate goal of this class is for students to be successful on the AP exam offered in the spring. The students are exposed to four broad conceptual themes:
1. Exploring Data: Describing patterns and departures form patterns
2. Sampling and Experimentation: Planning and conducting a study
3. Anticipating Patterns: Exploring random phenomena using probability and simulation.
4. Statistical Inference: Estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses
These topics are enriched by the use of critical thinking, problem solving strategies, and technology. We will be using calculators and statistical software extensively.
RISE/Help Sessions: TBD
Turning in work: Classwork and homework can be completed on paper or electronically using OneNote or other software.
