The Animal Rights and Rescue Club is dedicated to eliminating animal exploitation through education, investigations, legislation, and media attention. We believe that animals are highly sentient creatures who exist for their own reasons independent of their service to humans; they should not be made to suffer for the latter. We oppose the use of animals in food and clothing production, scientific experimentation, and entertainment and promotes a cruelty-free lifestyle and the ascription of rights to non-human beings. We support animal rescue organizations like the Humane Society, PETA, and conservation efforts.
Some of the efforts we support are:
Save the Mountain Gorillas
Ending puppy mills
Keeping elephants in sanctuaries, not zoos!
Ending the dog meat trade in China
Poaching large game in Africa and Asia
A short list of volunteer opportunities is posted below. Please search for other volunteering opportunities and share those ideas with other members and me.
Current initiative: Gorillas on the Line--Answer the Call! We are collecting used cell phones and small devices to reduce mining of minerals found in gorillas' natural habitat. Go to https://zooatlanta.org/conservation-action/gorillas-on-the-line/ for more information.
