Per the officers’ request, they are being more active in running the chapter this year, and that has included planning/preparing for/conducting the meetings. Both Mr. Hatcher and Ms. Foster have attended all meetings giving advice when needed.
The officers have been working on designing a T-shirt using this year’s state slogan “Leaders by Design.” Sample designs and prices are to be reviewed at the officer meeting on 8/31.
Officers manned the FBLA table during the two days that students arrived to pick up their schedules and recruited and signed up a large number of students.
The first meeting was announced on the intercom, and many posters were posted throughout the building two days prior to the meeting. All three teachers have continued to recruit in the classes by talking about FBLA and showing the recruiting video on FBLA.org, and by having signs and posters promoting FBLA in the classrooms.
Beginning next Tuesday our officers will have a table during both lunches to recruit more members and sell reserved parking spot tickets. Officers will pair up, research a topic and present it during one of the Thursdays for the meeting. Our chapter t-shirt design will be entered at Fall Rally.
Officers have redone recruiting posters, are working on our website, and getting members to “Like” FBLA on our Facebook page. Discussions have been held about additional fundraising activities.
Fifteen members who attended the Fall Motivational Rally proudly wore the new AHS FBLA T-shirts with the custom-designed logo that reflects the Leaders by Design state theme. AHS FBLA chapter was recognized as the largest chapter in the state.
Eight officers attended the Fall Leadership Conference at the Classic Center on the UGA campus in Athens. They were accompanied by advisers Tom Hatcher and Vicky Foster.
In December a competitors' meeting was held by the advisers to make sure that the competitors had the study materials they needed, and to turn in early submission items.
Several competitor's meetings were held in January and February pertaining to preparations for the region conference testing/performances and then with the students who advanced to state. Advisers worked with members before school, after school and during lunches to review business plans, critique student performances, and give advice. There was a big push in January by the advisers to encourage members to finish their Business Achievement Awards, and in February much time was again spent reviewing competitor business plans and preparing the Chapter of the Year documentation. Many preparations were also made prior to and during FBLA week publicizing and carrying out the business quotes on the intercom, T-shirt Day, Professional Dress Day, and Cake for teachers and members day.
