Wohlfahrtiimonas chitiniclastica is a new emerging pathogen, reported to be found in some flies, fleas, lice, etc. They are not sure what transmits Wohlfahrtiimonas chitiniclastica to humans, but it is being transmitted.
Could ticks be transmitting it? I have no clue, but after what we all have been thru, I will stand up right now and say (and you can certainly join me).... "I've had enough and I will NOT have a disease with a name I can not pronounce or spell!"

First Report of Wohlfahrtiimonas chitiniclastica Isolation from a Patient with Cellulitis in the United States.

We report the first documented isolation of Wohlfahrtiimonas chitiniclastica from a human in the United States.
Initially misidentified as Acinetobacter lwoffii by Vitek-2, the isolate was subsequently identified as W. chitiniclastica by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) and 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
While the clinical significance of the isolate in this case is unclear, it highlights the superior performance of MALDI-TOF MS for bacterial identification.
