It is wise to consider hiring a licensed or certified professional to do your building designs. For more elaborate designs, consider using an architect or structural engineer.
The architect will be your main contact and is the key player for your design objectives and guides you through the design and construction process of your construction project. They will determine the layout that best suits your site. A professional architect gives you much more than a set of drawings or blueprint. They give you a first look at your space and peace of mind in knowing the workmen will have a road map for building your house in Jamaica West Indies
After finalizing your design, you must get it approved by the government Town Planning Department or the building section of the relevant parish council, where you will receive a building permit.
WHY HIRE A QUANTITY SURVEYOR?
Common sense should tell you that someone wanting to carry out construction work would want to know the cost associated with the proposed work before the first nail is driven. After all, money is not a limitless resource. The need for financial advice is necessary so that persons can:
a. Come to a decision whether or not to proceed with the project
b. Adjust their design requirements, if necessary, to suit their available funding
c. Make arrangements to get a loan/mortgage etc
d. Be assured that they will not over spend than they reasonably should not on the project.
However, the many unfunished construction projects that dot the Jamaican landscape seem to be a testament that this is not so for some individuals and/or developers. They therefore start construction work with no clue of what they are getting in terms of associated costs and construction-specific legal issues.
There are those who have not been able to complete for years and there are also those who have finished their house construction project but have spent far more that they should have. There are four aspects of construction that must be given keen consideration by all potential building owners:
a. A desire to construct and an obligation to pay for it
b. To design and specify an aesthetically pleasing and structurally sound building
c. Planning, organizing and directing in an agreeable manner the cost of the building
d. Finalizing the process to the satisfaction of all parties.
Not all people are aware that there exists a construction professional group whose area of expertise is in procurement, cost management and construction contracts; but there is
