The 2012 Architectural Engineering Institute National Student Conference will be held April 19th-21st in Omaha, Nebraska.

The competition will challenge students to address the design issues for a new Government Office Building located in Omaha, Nebraska. The project site is located along Riverfront Drive and the Missouri River.
The submittals should address the following challenges:
Best practices in building security design as related to the FEMA-426 guidelines assuming a High Asset value at a High Homeland Security Threat Condition.
Construction and design issues related to a high performance building.
In the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, section 401, a high performance building is defined as follows:
High-Performance Building: a building that integrates and optimizes on a life cycle basis all major high performance attributes, including energy conservation, environment, safety, security, durability, accessibility, cost-benefit, productivity, sustainability, functionality, and operational considerations.
