Francesco Neve studied Chemistry at the University of Calabria where he received his Laurea cum laude in 1982.
After completing a three years-program at the same university, in 1988 he received the PhD for work on metal-hydrogen bond formation in transition metal complexes.
After spending time there as Research Associate in 1987, in 1989-90 he was a postdoctoral CNR-NATO fellow at the Department of Chemistry of the University of California, Davis (USA) in the group of Prof. Alan L. Balch working at the synthesis of metallomacrocyclic systems.
Appointed in 1991 as Researcher, since 1998 he is Associate Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the Chemistry Department of the University of Calabria.
Early illuminated on the way of crystal beauty (and chemical design thereafter) by a polish B&W movie ("Struktura krysztalu", K. Zanussi, 1969), his research training and academic work has been devoted to coordination, supramolecular, and materials chemistry.
He is the author or coauthor of several books and journal articles either in italian or english.
