Complete list of problems and questions for this term.

Week 1.

No tutorial.

Week 2.

Please have a go at all the problems for Tutorial 1 (you will find the problem sheet at the top of this page), except for problem 6 which you should leave out. You don't have to hand in your answers, but I WILL check your understanding during the tutorials.

In addition, write a short essay on EITHER question 1 or question 3 (NOT question 2). These must be handed in (no later than Saturday night). Just give them to the porter who will drop them into my pigeon hole. There are no right or wrong answers, but it is crucial that you practice writing essays.

I look fwd to seeing you all in week 2.

Week 3.

Please attempt problems 3 and 4 of Tutorial 2.

In addition, HAND IN an essay on question 6 (hand in your printed essays as usual to the porter by Sunday night). Your essay should be model-based, wherever possible, i.e. avoid vague statements. Try to write your essay in exam-like conditions (+/- 45 mins, no textbook in front of you).

Week 4.

Please attempt problems 1,4 and 5 of Tutorial 3. Also, spend some time thinking about questions 2,3 and 4.

There is nothing to hand in this week, but I WILL ask questions to evaluate your understanding!

Week 5.

Please attempt problems 2,3 and 4 of Tutorial 4.

There is nothing to hand in this week, but I WILL ask questions to evaluate your understanding!

Week 6.

This week we'll start working on consumer theory. Please attempt problems 2,3, 4 and 5 of Tutorial 5. Nothing to hand in, but as last week you'll be going to the board.

Week 7.

Week 8.

In addition, write an essay based on essay question number 3. These must be handed in Sunday evening at the latest, in paper form, into my pigeon hole. Essays must be no longer than a page and a half, though equations and graphs can be added to that. As usual, do the reading first and then place yourself into exam-like conditions for writing the essay!

Week 0.

Please write an essay based on essay question 2 of Tutorial 5 (on Slutsky's equation applied to the labour market). Hand in your essays Thursday of week 0. As usual, concise and to the point (absolute MAX 2 pages of text, though graphs and equations may be added to that), written in exam-like conditions.

This is not an easy question, it will require you to really get to the bottom of Slutsky's equation.
