1. Studylight.org http://www.studylight.org/ Click at the top of the page (upper ribbon) Bible Study Tools, Original Language Tools, & Historical Writings.
2. Christian Classics Ethereal Library (CCEL) http://www.ccel.org/ To locate commentaries on a book in the Bible, type in its search bar something like "Matthew commentary" and then when the list is displayed, look at the top of the display and click Titles & Authors to see its list of all the commentaries available. Also make searches for Bible Dictionary, or Bible Encyclopedia, Lexicons, etc.
3. Internet Archive.org www.archive.org When the screen opens, click on the symbol for the Open Book (when you float the cursor over the open book it should say "Texts". When it is clicked another screen opens and on the right-hand the little Open Book will again be seen.
Click on it. The next screen should be titled "eBooks and Texts."
On that screen, look on the right-hand for a search bar which says Search this Collection.
Make a search for Matthew commentary, or Bible Dictionary, or Bible Encyclopedia, etc.
A number of books will appear.
Pick one.
Pages from it will appear, and possibly other groups of pages may be listed, BUT, for you, scroll down and on the right-hand will be a list of formats which may be used to download a copy of the book.
Thus, you may have the students download specific books to an electronic device or to a thumb-drive (also called USB drive, memory stick, and pen drive).
Of course, the teacher may have this done for each student enrolled in their class(es), or your librarian may keep one or more copies for the students to use (or copy) in the library.
4. Free eBooks (Australia) http://www.e-book.com.au/freebooks.htm Scroll down to its table of contents and look at each of its links to see which ones would be the most helpful.
5. HathiTrust.org http://www.hathitrust.org/ has until recently been a READ ONLY database. Limit searches to FULL VIEW ONLY. Students could read the books on the computer or electronic device's screen, but could not download the text. Now though, if they go to the Digital Public Library in America http://dp.la/info/ , they can make a search for a specific book, and if it is in the HathiTrust.org collection, they will see a link on the left which they may use to download a page. They can use HathiTrust's Advanced Search to limit the searches to Exact Phrase, All These Words, etc. or use its other limiter to limit the search to Author, Title, etc., with additional limiters on the left side of the screen once one search has been made. Once they know the book is available in HathiTrust.org, they then can use the Digital Public Library in America resource to help them download pages.
