It is a graded assignment worth 100 points, the equivalent of a test score. Also, I have published a practice test on IXL. Thirty minutes of good effort is the absolute minimum effort for the accelerated program.

The IXL practice test (8B Practice Test 11/25) is very similar to the test. I highly recommend that you complete it tonight for practice.

MATH 8B - Work on IXL recommended skills for a minimum of 30 minutes. I would advise you to spend at least 60 minutes per night this week. The latest math assessment has identified several dificiencies for most of you. We will take a break in the curriculum this week in an effort to correct these issues. If you have a score of less than 800 on Fractions, focus on IXL recommended skills for fractions. Our goal for the near future with regard to IXL assessment scores: Fractions - 800, Algebra & Algebraic Thinking - 930, Numbers & Operations - 900. The goal for our overall score at the moment is 930. We should be at 1,000 by graduation.

If you have difficulty, no big deal but try your best. Thirty minutes of good effort is the minimum. MATH 8B - Today, we worked on 56E. We are now responsible for ZZU, JZL, S9P, NXB, and 56E. Complete all of these to a blue ribbon. Plan to take the final test of the trimester on Tuesday, November 12. The difficulty level on the test will be at the "blue ribbon" level. If you are able to achieve at least an 80% Smart Score on these skills without difficulty, you will do well on the test. Please spend at least 30 minutes over the weekend on achieving blue ribbons and/or working on the practice tests. Also, the IXL codes (ZZU, JZL, S9P, NXB, and 56E) will be counted as a graded assignment. Blue ribbons on these skills will give you full credit. You do NOT need to achieve gold cups. There are several practice tests available. You should work on the practice tests if/when you get through the IXL codes.

If you cannot fix it, you must have specific questions for me tomorrow. Any student who does not complete this homework assignment will not have an opportunity to improve their grade on this test. SPANISH - As a reflection on today's class, it is obvious  that we had some challenges on behavior. You are in 8th grade, and I think its important that we understand the value of your time and my time. As a way to help reinforce our classroom expectations, I have assigned a writing assingment. This will not only help you reflect on how we can improve but also help us all get back on track. I apologize for the students who this does not apply to but we are all one team in this classroom. In English, please write a 400-500 word essay on the meaning of Hispanic Heritage Month.
