To the best of my knowledge there will be two sets of panels with papers focusing on Southeast Asia at the next SAA meeting in Sacramento. Both are scheduled for March 31st, 2011.
The first is a panel organized by Jade d'Alpoim Guedes and Anke Hein entitled "Recent developments in the Archaeology of Southwest China and Southeast Asia." The second is a panel organized by Dr. Shinu Abraham and Alison Carter entitled "Studying Beads around the Indian Ocean: New approaches, methodologies, and insights from an overlooked artifact." More details and abstracts for the papers are attached to this post.
If anyone is giving a paper or knows of any additional papers related to Southeast Asian archaeology that will be presented at the SAAs please let us know and I will add it to this list. A more detailed schedule of all the SEA papers will be posted again closer to the dates of the actual meeting.
We are also discussing the possibility of an informal gathering of SEA and East Asian archaeologists at some point during the meetings for a meal or drinks. More details on that will be posted in the future as well.
