As I explained previously, I took the group photo I had received in 2014 and numbered each man, row by row. That was easy for row 1 (front) to row 4. It's rows 5 and 6, on the far left, that got a little difficult. They weren't in a direct straight left to right line, because a few of the men were kind of "in between". See the photo below and those in the yellow circle. Since it was my project, I made a choice of numbering, for that left corner, as I thought appropriate. Someone else, as you will see, may have numbered them differently.
Recently, we discovered the same photo in Jerry Steenwyk's album, where he had listed names on separate pieces of paper and pasted them next to the photo, left to right, row by row (but no numbers). (See the photo to the right.) So the question is, how did Steenwyk choose to list those men's names in that corner for rows 5 and 6? I think he may have chosen my # 140 and # 141 differently, as in row 5, and not row 6.
I go into more detail about this row 5 and row 6 corner on the next pages.
Here below is the first page of the row by row, comparison of Steenwyk's lists of names to the faces for each row. The names come from the official Roster (as corrected for typos by me) with their home town and state. And it includes a few notes for those that are unknown or questionable. There is a page for each row.
We'll see if we can discover other photos of these men, to compare or cross reference.
This shows a portion of how Steenwyk had listed the names for each row. This was for the 1st row.
