Video Resources for 7th Grade Social Studies

Georgia Standards of Excellence

Welcome to my one-stop shop for video resources that match the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for 7th grade social studies. These are indexed by region and standard for easy use in your classroom or for sharing on your teaching blog. This site is intended for use by teachers, not students. Please don’t link parents and students to the site, but link them directly to a given video. There are tips on how to do this in the slideshow at the bottom of the page.

These videos come from a variety of sources, including the Georgia Department of Education and my own YouTube channel.

Is there a good 7th grade video that you think I should add? Let me know by completing this form.

Useful Notes

    • Always preview a video before sharing it with your students. A few of these were aimed at high school students and could have language that, while not inappropriate, could challenge the maturity level of some middle schoolers. You are the best judge of your kids and their parents.

    • Because some government and economics standards are duplicated across all regions, I have also duplicated their videos across the different sections of this site for your convenience.

    • Links to BrainPop videos are included with many standards. You will need a subscription to their service to use these. If your district doesn’t provide you with a subscription, I do recommend purchasing one for your own use.

    • Some videos are labelled as “Extension.” These contain topics that are a bit advanced for typical middle school students, or go way beyond the GSE standards. These are useful for enrichment, especially with advanced students.
