This is the classroom website from the year 2020-2021; Google recently converted it to its new sites platform, so much of the previous formatting is gone.
Click on the subject pages in the sidebar to the left to read a summary of each day and the homework for each class. The most recent entry is always at the top. You can scroll all the way down to see September 2020. (If you do not see the sidebar, click on the three lines [hamburger symbol, pancake symbol], maybe in the upper left, to see the menu of pages on this site.
The site for 2021-2022 will follow the same format.
Notice that the last entry for this (home) page was made in February. Notes on this homepage were only updated with special announcements except when all students were learning from home. At that time, the weekly and daily Zoom schedule was posted here. Notes on the class pages (in the menu) are updated daily. Remember, homework is in red.

Book order forms from Scholastic.com have gone home a couple of times recently. If you would like to order anything, you can do it at scholastic.com or by bringing the order form back with the payment. Some students prefer to make cash payments; that is fine with me. I will place our order after school Thursday, so if you plan to order, you have until Thursday at 3:00 pm. If you order online, my teacher code is MC2QW

Sept. 24--General notice to students and parents: The power went out in parts of Lake Stevens today (9/24). Public school online classes were interrupted by this. So, I am taking this time to remind students of a discussion we had in a Zoom conference recently, and to let parents know what we discussed. There could be any number of reasons I fail to open a scheduled Zoom conference. Double and triple check that you are using the correct Zoom link. Try with the number and password. If, after ten minutes, it seems I have not opened the Zoom meeting, you can stop trying for that meeting. If I am unable to open a scheduled Zoom meeting, I will try to use my phone to put an update on the website. Work on whatever assigned work you can, and try again at the next scheduled meeting. Check this website homepage to see if there is an update from me.

September 7, 2020--
Welcome to Mrs. Murphy's website for 5th and 6th grades and for 7th- and 8th-grade earth science! I am so delighted to begin this school year! This year is a bit different than other years in that we will be using Google Classroom, but I will also be maintaining our classroom website.
We have two schedules for this year, Plan A for when we have in-person teaching and learning in our school building and Plan B for when we connect with each other remotely. This is how I will use this website for Plan A and Plan B.
Plan A: For each subject I teach, you will find a summary of what we did in class and the assigned homework. Homework will always be in red. Much of the assignments will be found on Google Classroom.
Plan B: This website will have a summary of our upcoming day on the home page and details about each school subject on the subject pages.
You can think of it like this: when we are in school, the website will have a summary of what we did in school and the homework listed; you check the website in the afternoon or evening. When we are doing remote learning, the website has details about what we will do in a day. You check the website each morning by 8:35.
I look forward to the start of the school year, and I am eager to work with each of you!
