Our club founder and co-leader is Dr. Larry Pennington. Dr. Pennington has been a veterinarian for over 30 years and has practiced small animal medicine and surgery at the Windsor Animal Clinic which he's owned since 1986 . He's married to wife, Andrea and has two sons, Parker and Colin.
Growing up as a farm boy in northern Ohio, he developed his love and passion for caring for animals at a very young age. He graduated as a veterinarian from Ohio State University in 1979.
His crowning achievements have included:
2007 Connecticut Veterinarian of the Year
2009 Connecticut MDA(Muscular Dystrophy Association) Person of the Year
2010 Windsor Person of the Year(Jerry Hallas Award for Service to the Community)
Andy Maines is a long-time educator who has taught college freshman English for many years. Although he has always had a casual interest in animals and wildlife, he comes to 4-H through his daughter Tamzin’s passion for ag sciences. Tamzin joined 4-H in 2006 and brought Andy along to meetings and events. In 2020, Andy joined the club himself coming on board as an assistant leader.
