Dear student who has struggled with learning Spanish,
I know how you must feel. Maybe you studied Spanish in school and can only remember how to say 'Hola' and ¿Cómo estás? Maybe you have the attitude that you are just horrible at learning languages. Or, maybe you just want to improve your Spanish skills but don't know where to go.
I can help in all situations.
First, to the student who feels they can't learn a language-
- You can learn a language. I bet you learned English pretty effortlessly.
- It's not that you can't learn Spanish, it's that you have been taught in a way that goes against brain research.
- The textbook, from which you have diligently memorized its lists of names of fruits, professions, and locations around town will NOT help you to acquire Spanish. Learning rules and memorizing verb conjugations does not lead to someone who can speak Spanish.
- You just need to hear the language over and over again- not in an immersion setting, but in a way that everything that is said is 100% comprehensible. Once you've heard the key structures enough, the language will fall out of your mouth without having to think, conjugate, or translate.
To the student who just wants to improve speaking skills-
- TPRS® (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) is a revolutionary teaching method that will improve your speaking ability. We will create fun and interesting stories that will help you learn to communicate effectively. It will be effortless and I guarantee that the language will just fall out of your mouth!
- For more information about TPRS® , please visit www.fluencyfast.com I invite you to watch the video on the home page and read the research presented on the site.
I have training in traditional teaching and TPRS® .
- I have worked with many students who just need to pass their middle or high school Spanish class (even AP), many of whom with grammar-based teachers. I am superb with mnemonic devices, grammar games, and explaining the grammar so it makes sense.
- I authored a self-study manual for Peace Corps Volunteers, that has been used for the last 7 years!
Suerte, (Good luck)
