Skips: you get 4 w/o penalty. Work is still due as scheduled. After that, you lose a four points for each skip, no exceptions. Save your skips for illnesses.
Exception: Student-athletes need to get me schedules of away games. Work is still due on the due date, however.Late Work: see the schedule for policies on drafts and final drafts. Every day late costs the project 4 points.
The Brick: consult the page on The Brick for details. If you have it in class, you've lost 4 points until I take it back. If you find me guilty of a Brick-worthy offense in my claims made in reply to your blogs, you earn one extra point.
Doo-Dads in Class: none. Put the phones away. No laptops or tablets, either. Any usage constitutes a "skip."
Leaving Class: take care of biology before class, even if you run a minute late. Unless it's illness (and tell me when you come into class or discretely outside it) you may not leave. If you do, take your bags and don't come back.
Food/Drinks: yes, but clean up after yourself.
Missing a Meeting: I want to see you at the office so I can get to know you and your work. But write it down somewhere. Otherwise, "Bad bad...you're fired" in the real world, or at least a bad annual evaluation. Miss a meeting with the Writing Consultants and you lose 4 points for the project. Miss a meeting with me? Professorial glare of disapproval follows and we'll reschedule if it is convenient for me. E-mail me well in advance, if you cannot make a meeting.
Trolling, Flaming, Etc. Online: don't even think about it. You are writing for a public beyond this class, at your sites. Mind your manners and remember that you always represent the university in person and online.
Tech note about blog: always sign out of you UR Gmail account, then sign in with your non-UR Google account before trying to post or comment.
