Peace Quilt

Come and Join us in Creating our Peace Quilt

Women and children from all around the world are creating individual fabric squares that, when sewn together, will make a huge patchwork quilt – PIECE for PEACE.

The quilt will serve as an artistic expression of our desire for peace in our region.

It will show the world that women can organize and act to end conflict.

It will demonstrate, without violence and without words: Women in Israel and in Palestine want peace!

As women, we know that society is much like a patchwork quilt, where different communities join together to create a whole. We know how to connect and join. We know how to build bridges. We believe we can affect the change necessary to build a better, more peaceful society.

The quilt was first displayed at the March for Hope events that took place all over Israel in October 2016, organized by Women Wage Peace. You may continue to send pieces after October; the goal is a million of them.

How can you participate?

Use a cotton fabric square as background, preferably in white or off-white.

The Square size : 14” x 14” (35 x 35 cm.)

You must leave 1” from each size (2.5 cm) around the edges for the square

Decorate your square with a message of Peace and Hope in any technique – appliqué, embroidery, glued, beaded, drawn with permanent pens or markers – in any and all colors of the rainbow.

Sign your name and country on the front side of the square in permanent pen or marker. If you have an email address, please include it in your envelope to us.

Send your finished square to either address in a simple mailing envelope – not as a package – so it won’t be detained in customs. It will also reach us faster if you don’t declare any value at the post office; let its value come from being a precious addition to a powerful symbol of hope and determination in our region!
