Setting up a paper in MLA format -
Ø Open a new document in Microsoft WORD
Ø Change the font to TIMES NEW ROMAN 12PT
Ø Click on the “Line spacing” icon(in Paragraph section)
o Set the paper to double space (2.0)
o Also click on the link for “Line Spacing Options”
o Set both the “Before” and “After” spacing options to 0 pt and click “OK” (then click DEFAULT to save these line spacing settings for all your papers!)
Ø Click on the “Page Layout” tab
o Click on “Margins:
§ Make sure your paper is set to 1” margins on all sides
Ø Click on “Insert” tab
o Click on “Page Number”
§ Select “Top of Page”
§ Select option that will place the page number
on the top right side of paper
o Type your last name and then a space
in front of the page number
o Click on “Close Header and Footer” (top right)
Ø Type your name, your teacher's name, class and today's date (Day Month Year; 15 November 2016) in the top left corner of the paper's first page
Ø On the line under the date, center and type a title for your paper
Ø Hit Enter a few times to get to the bottom of the page
o Click on “Insert” then click “Page Break”
Ø On the top center of the 2nd page, type:
