It was a little early-season for wildlife .. it was not quite feeding and breeding time. In general the wee beasties (or not so wee in the case of whales) didn't give a damn about us. The main things we saw were:
Penguins
A number of colonies of gentoos were along the coast, you tended to smell them as you saw them
We had a most pleasant few hours on shore one afternoon watching seals and a colony of penguins up to their amusing antics:
Seals
We saw a couple of types, crab eaters and Weddell (sorry, I do tech not beasties)
Whales
Once we arrived in the peninsular we saw a good number of pods of humpback whales over the weeks we were there. We were fortunate being so close to them a few metres above the sea on the yacht.
We had one outstanding day up in the hill in great sunny weather to return to shore and spend 30mins watching whales cruise by, maybe 50m from shore. Ooohh what a perfect day (partic returning to Podorange for beer on the poop deck).
Birds
We saw some, er, birds. Unfortunately being in Antarctica they had lots of clothes on. The outstanding bit were the Albatrosses and Petrels that kept us company crossing the Drake passage .. 500km from the nearest land.
Polar Bears
Don't be silly, wrong end of the planet.
