The Stevens Point Area Running Club is a USA Track & Field (USATF) and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) certified organization for runners 18 and under. The primary goal of SPARC is to help young athletes build self confidence as they challenge themselves in track and field & cross country competitions. Each child's personal improvement and enjoyment are the keys to the club's mission. The club is a registered 501c3 non-profit corporation.
A group of dedicated parents founded SPARC in the early 1980s. The club flourished for over a decade and regularly sent groups of athletes to state, regional, and national competitions. Many SPARC runners went on to compete at the collegiate level. Two SPARC alums competed at the highest levels of the sport: the Olympic Games. Despite this success, the club disbanded in 1993 and did not reform again until May of 2013.
WHO CAN JOIN SPARC?
Anyone 18 years old and younger with an age-verified membership to USATF can become a member of the club. You do not have to be a member of the club to compete at SPARC events.
Please email the club at firstname.lastname@example.org once you have acquired your USATF membership. Uniforms, t-shirts, and warm up gear can be purchased separately.
Our primary goal is to host running events for youth runners, but we do offer some organized training sessions. Our athletes train with private certified USATF running coaches in the Stevens Point area. If you are interested in private coaching for your athlete just email club and we will direct you to a list of private coaching services. Club e-mail:
