Rebuilding the St. Johns Meadows Garden Railroad. - 2014

St. Johns meadows started their outdoor "Meadowville Central" garden railroad in 2006. The original track and track support was donated by Tops Friendly Markets, and the railroad was built in conjunction with the Genesee G Gauge Railway Society.

Eight years later, in 2014, the railroad is getting a facelift! being rebuilt from the ground up.

Deconstruction started in the Autumn of 2013, and serious rebuilding got underway in the Spring of 2014. On March 29, 2014, Boy Scout troop 7 from Henrietta, (who did a fabulous job!) St. Johns staff, and members of Genesee G Gauge all got together to begin some serious work! tearing down much of the old stone walls so that newer retaining walls can be built, and moving lots of dirt to make the new track plan a reality..

St. Johns Meadows and Genesee G Gauge celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of the Meadowville Central Railroad on August 2, 2014. The railroad was first built in 2006, and in the spring and summer of 2014 was completely torn down and built back up. A second loop was added, so we can now run two trains instead of only one, the trolley line was rebuilt, a new pond and waterfall was created, the village area was redone, a new wood retaining wall was built, and a garden area was added so that St. Johns residents can plant their own flowers. St. Johns staff and GGGRS members did a fabulous job with the rebuild! and the new railroad looks fantastic.

The grand opening party on August 2nd was very well attended by St. Johns residents, staff, GGGRS members, and many family and friends. The weather was beautiful, St. Johns provided great food, and a good time was had by all. Special thanks to our club president Dennis for being the "driving force" behind the project, to all the club members who made it happen, and to Jean and the St. Johns staff for all the support and hard work as well. It turned out great!
