Being An Old Time Christian
Many times in our Christian life when we have to face situations, we react in a manner that expresses an attitude that is not Christ like. Many times we are fast to judge and show our feelings that are not the best examples for a Christian to have. When we think back over the situations we wonder why we acted and said what we did, and why we tried to blame it on us being human? Sometimes we think that we are strong in our walk with God, that others will not judge us, but not true, we are being judged just as others are judged. Many times Christians wonder what kind of an impression that they leave on sinners. How many times have we had to back up and ask forgiveness for not being an example for others? How many times do we have to get on our knees and ask God for forgiveness for our shortcomings and weaknesses? Everything that we have said and done in haste and even our thoughts can be changed by an earnest prayer of forgiveness. Prayer can change everything in our lives.
When you think of your failures do you ever think how your life affects others? When our shortcomings last only a few minutes they will affect others for years and even a lifetime. I am sure if we could have stopped and thought of all our failures our words and actions would not have been the same. I think many times how the Devil will put negative thoughts in our minds and build them up till we think they are the right thing to do. Those thoughts can rule our lives and ruin many happy days; the Devil will stand nearby, and think He now has us in His control. We must put those negative thoughts out of our minds and realize God is waiting for us to turn our thoughts to Him and only then will the Devil flee. When we call on God the Devil knows He has lost the battle and God is now head of our lives. Other people should want to be just like us and strive to pattern their lives by our example; there is much work for a Christian to do. We know about a stranger’s life when we talk for only five minutes. We find that if they are truly a born again Christian they can’t keep it quiet for any longer --- from the heart the mouth speaketh.
As long as we live on the face of this earth some one is watching us and seeing if we do something that is not what a Christian should be doing. We are known as a Christian by others by what we do, the way we act, the way we talk, and by the love that we have for others. Many times we are not included in activities of the world because we represent Jesus. Many times we are talked about and sometimes made fun of by not following the crowd. We find that we are a separate people and can’t be like the world. We are different and our reading material, tv programs, songs, places we go, and our talk is different from those out in sin. We get joy, happiness, and peace from serving God, We must always be a light to others and an example for them to follow.
