From the 2nd to the 8th August
8000 Scouts from 42 Countries Joined Together
for a week of Fun, Friendship, Adventure and Challenge
at the 13th Korea National Jamboree
Thanks to thousands of Korean Scouts and Leaders, and 700 Scouts and Leaders from 40 different countries, this year's Korea National Jamboree was a great success. A fitting celebration for our 90th Anniversary of Scouting in Korea, the Jamboree gave young people the opportunity to try new things, make new friends, and have adventures in an international Scouting Atmosphere.

We want to say a big thank you to all of the Scouts and Leaders that participated, to the support staff and our partners who made the event possible, and to everyone all over the world that sent us well wishes during the Jamboree.
Jamboree activities included climbing up 'Ulsan Rock' a craggy peak in the world famous Soraksan National Park, archery, go carting, paragliding, Challenge Valley, the Global Village and more.
The Jamboree also featured an 'off-day' in the middle of the week, when an International Food Festival was held at lunchtime and there was a friendly carnival atmostphere all over the site.
The main events were the spectacualr opening ceremony, which finished up with fireworks and a rock concert and the closing ceremony which, after a very brief formal ceremony turned into a K-Pop TV broadcast, with a whole host of bands performing, most notably, the veteran rock band "No Brain" had the whole arena on their feet singing and jumping along to the music.
The Jamboree also hosted an International Night, which included a really wide range of cultures and performances, from traditional Brittish drumming, to rapping, and epic musical style performances from Thailand and Indonesia that would not be out of place on Broadway, to an impromptu lesson in Tagalog from a brave participant from the Phillippines who took to the stage alone to represent his country.
Another special event at the Jamboree was Superstar J, the Jamboree talent competition which was held on the main stage, with by-invitation performances from the Thai and Indonesian contingents. Acts in the competition ranged from dancers, to magicians and guitarists, with a live band and solo and duo singing performances. There were two first prize categories, one for an individual and one for a group. The individual category winner was a mind boggling beat boxer who blew everyone away with his smart, funny and highly skilled act. The group category winners were a group of three Scouts who performed a comedy dance to the famouse 'Gagnam Style', with freaky and hilarious moves that the judges had never seen before!
The Jamboree also hosted the Jamboree Youth Forum, held twice on two different days, around 100 participants took part and discussed issues of deforestation and ways of protecting the forest, in line with our Jamboree theme.
All in all the Jamboree was incredible, and it is something all of us will never forget~!
Everyone here in Korea is already missing the new friends made at the Jamboree, but we know we will see some of you at the upcoming Asia-Pacific and World Scout Jamborees in Japan, and we are hoping to be able to welcome all of you to Korea in 2023 for the 25th World Scout Jamboree which we are currently bidding to host.
See you again somewhere in Scouting!
