DO YOU THINK YOU CAN DO BETTER THEN KENNEDY OR KHRUSHCHEV?
Aim
The aim of this simulation is to achieve a strategic victory over the other team. Whether this is a military or a diplomatic victory is up to you.
The scale of this victory or defeat will be judged by independent observers.
Rules
You can only make decisions with the information and options presented to you on each day. You cannot use the benefit of hindsight. Independent observers are on hand to make sure these rules are enforced.
You cannot look at the information the other team will be getting.
Before the simulation starts, you will be directed to a background information page. Students representing the USA will have 5 minutes to read all their background information and students representing the Soviet Union will have 10 minutes.
Each 'day' of the simulation lasts 5 minutes in real time. You cannot move onto the next day until the 5 minutes are up.
The USA will start on Day 1. This is the 22nd of October 1962.
The USSR will start on Day 2. This is the 23rd of October 1962.
Your only contact with the other side will be through a Google document. This can be reached by clicking on the "Washington-Moscow Telegrams" or "Moscow-Washington Telegrams" link. You can also reach this page if you decide to negotiate with the other side.
It is recommended that once you open this document, you keep it open and regularly check for communications with the other team.
