Uber, Arrival to bring electric vehicle

Uber has announced its collaboration with Arrival, the UK-based electric vehicle manufacturer, to build up an electric car for ride-hail drivers. The design for this electric vehicle will be revealed before the end of this year, while the production of the car may begin in the third quarter of 2023. As per the startup, the objective

behind this project is to build a reasonably priced car that worldwide ride-hail drivers like.

Arrival has established itself to be among the verified EV manufacturers after having amalgamated with a unique purpose acquisition company, or SPAC. Moreover, Arrival is also known to have developed electric delivery van and buses. The company is supported by the renowned automobile brands Hyundai and Kia.

The partners have released the initial designs for the car interiors, while the final designs are yet to come out. Also, the companies have employed the drivers in the development process.

The images in circulation give us a brief of familiar interiors of the concept cars, featuring a sizeable horizontal display escalated to the car’s dashboard, similar to Tesla cars models. At the same time, the steering wheel features two scroll wheels and no driver display.

Other enhancements have been introduced in the car with respect to the riding experience for both a driver and a passenger. The driver’s seat has been designed to offer comfort throughout his journey without having to experience any physical issue while driving for long distances. The passenger’s seat is foldable to make more leg room. The rear seat has been given a shape of a bench to make it easier to get in and out of the car.

For ride-hailing purposes, electric vehicles seem to fit in perfectly. These cars hardly call for maintenance as they have fewer moving parts as compared to IC cars. They are intrinsically compliant with zero-emission zones adopted across Europe.
