This two-day workshop begins with a fundamental question: What does effective teaching and learning look like when it’s informed by an understanding of how students learn?
To answer this question, we will:
Explore essential concepts of the mind, including the structure of memory, the role of prior knowledge in learning, and how to manage cognitive load
Analyze real-world examples of learning science principles, asking ourselves: “What does this look like in the classroom?”
Practice applying such principles to our own instructional contexts, practices, and routines
