Seoul is a major city with a wide range of hotel options. Given the size of the city and the traffic, location is key and we recommend staying somewhere south of the river.
There are no hotels within close walking distance, but Hotel Park Habio is closest to Seoul International School. It is in the Munjeong neighborhod, which is a 5 minute bus or taxi ride from campus. There are other hotels in the Munjeong/Garak area as well.
Wirye and Bundang are both fantastic areas to stay and are a short (5-10 minutes) taxi, bus, or subway ride away from the SIS campus.
There are also many options available farther north in Songpa, Gangnam, or Jamsil areas if want to stay closer to downtown. Transportation each way would be around 30-45 minutes.
There are multiple methods of transportation from Incheon or Gimpo airport. As you exit the arrival gate there are taxi stands and you should be able to get help easily if you need it.
On arrival you can take a taxi (it helps to have the hotel name and address in Korean, or the school address if you are coming right to the school). Even in the digital age, it helps to have the addresses printed out to show the taxi driver, they rarely speak English.
The airport bus and/or subway are cost-effective and convenient options for skipping some of the Seoul traffic.
The metro train (subway) can get you right to Jamsil, Bokjeong, or Jangji (the location of Park Habio hotel). This will be about 6. USD with a fare card you can buy at the airport but will be more than 30 stops and will take over an hour on the train. But, the bus and taxi will each also take an hour or more, depending on the time of day of your arrival.
Airport buses run from both Gimpo and Incheon International Airport to many areas of Seoul. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booths just outside the 1F Arrivals Hall of each terminal. Detailed inquiries on bus routes and bus stops can be made there.
Airport bus types
There are two types of airport buses: deluxe and standard. Deluxe buses operate on non-stop or shortened routes to major hotels and destinations. As these buses make fewer stops, they have a shorter travel time, and are equipped with comfortable seats with more space. Standard buses tend be more crowded with smaller seats and make more stops. Please note that the fare for the two bus types may differ depending on their routes and destinations.
If you take the subway from the airport, you will have to transfer.
Destination (School):
Bokjong Station - Exit 2
Bundang Line (Yellow) / Subway 8 Line (Pink)
Directions
Take exit #2, walk straight for 3 blocks, and turn left. You should be able to see the Seoul International School main gate as you look up the small hill. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the Subway exit to the main gate.
From the airport the cost should be approximately 80,000 - 100,000 won if coming directly to the school.
There is no need to tip the taxi driver.
