Welcome!

About Ms. Lind

First a bit about me! My name is Ms. Lind (if you're trying to email me my name is Haley--hlind@siouxcentral.org).  I grew up outside of Marathon, Iowa and graduated from Laurens-Marathon in 2009.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education from Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD in 2013. Because I love learning--especially how I can better help my students--I went back to school and earned my Masters of Education with an emphasis in Instructional Strategies in 2021 from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD.  Now I am taking graduate level History courses from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa to earn a Teaching History certificate to allow me to teach introductory college history courses.

Before coming to Sioux Central, I taught high school History at Alta-Aurelia for one year, 7th grade social studies at West Delaware CCSD for five years, and 6-12 English/Language Arts for three years at Laurens-Marathon. I am so excited to start my 11th year of teaching and my second year as a Rebel at Sioux Central!

My favorite things about teaching are getting to know my students in the classroom and through their extra curricular activities during the school year. For the past four years, I have coached large group and individual speech, and I look forward to starting my journey as the Head Individual Speech Coach here at SC and assistant play/drama director.

Other Information:

Family: I have 4 brothers (only my oldest two are in the picture to the right).  I grew up on a farm with my four brothers and my mom and dad. While I did get to help on the farm with turkey and pig chores every once in a while, I was lucky that my brothers were around to do most of that.

Hobbies: Drinking coffee (yes it's a hobby:), baking (and trying new recipes), reading, listening to music, watching movies (and quoting them too!), finding new shows on Hulu and Netflix to binge watch, and hanging out with family and friends.

Favorite Books: I love the Harry Potter series, pretty much anything by Sarah Dessen and Meg Cabot, and lots of Young Adult books. Check out my classroom library for some of my favorite reads, as well as some of the books on my TBR (to-be-read) list! I tend to get more books than I have time to read, so I love to share those with my students.

Favorite Movies/TV shows: Harry Potter (of course), Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, all Marvel movies, Gilmore Girls, The Office, and tons more! I LOVE musicals!

Music: I love listening to all sorts of music, especially music from musicals. The picture to the right is from when I went to Hamilton with my family! This summer I went to two shows in Minneapolis--Moulin Rouge and Wicked. The music I listen to all depends on my mood!  : )
