ELEMENTARY Music

KIND WORDS ARE THE MUSIC OF THE WORLD ~ F.W. Faber

Sioux Central Mission Statement

The Sioux Central Community School will provide opportunities for each student to develop academically, emotionally and socially into a competent and responsible citizen.

Sioux Central Fine Arts Philosophy

The Fine Arts are an integral part of a basic education.  All students at every level, from early childhood through high school, should be provided with a balanced, comprehensive, and sequential program of instruction in each of the arts in their school.  These programs should be taught by qualified teachers.

The fine arts experience is fundamental and necessary in developing full human potential.  The actual practice and appreciation of the fine arts can engage the imagination, foster flexible ways of thinking, develop disciplined effort, build self-esteem, and offer aesthetic experiences.  "The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading, writing and arithmetic...music, dance, painting and theater are keys that unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment." (Bennett, 1986, p. 35)

The fine arts are an essential part of each student's education and aid in developing lifelong skills.  the cumulative knowledge of the arts is a history of the world and its civilizations.  For our society, fine arts education is needed to insure the existence of our future.
