Graduating seniors who meet the criteria will have a special seal added to their diplomas.
Students may earn a certificate each school year.

Qualifying students will have advantages over other students when seeking employment
Increase graduation rate/decrease dropout rate
Graduate students with a strong work ethic and confidence to succeed
Prepare students for school to work transition
Participation by students is voluntary and their responsibility
Reduce achievement gap by motivating students to have better grades, attendance, and behaviors
Increase awareness of the Work Ethic Seal in our community

JOSTENS RENAISSANCE
Using Jostens Renaissance as a cornerstone, we begin at the earliest of ages in our elementary schools developing the work ethic program at Franklin-Simpson. In middle school and high school these activities continue with an emphasis on respect, recognition, rewards, reinforcement, and the development of relationships.

Includes excused/unexcused days, and excused/unexcused check-in/out (no more than the equivalent of 8 days missed)
BEHAVIOR
Discipline events fall into two categories, minor (less severe) & major (more severe).
No major discipline events
No more than TWO minor discipline events
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Serve the community by helping someone agency or neighborhood
Cannot help family members in your own home
Must be 2 hours total (K-2) and 4 hours total (3-5) (can be multiple projects)
Cannot get paid
Fill out community service form and get parents to sign it AND turn it in ON Time
GRADE K Expectations
Friendly to All - hands and feet to self; use kind words; stay in your area; Excited to Lead - prepared with school tools and materials; following listening rules; sharing ones thoughts in a respectful way;
Show Respect - following directions the first time given; taking turns; working with others
Reading & Writing: Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words; Read fluently (accuracy, speed, and prosody) on grade-level to support comprehension; Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables and sounds (phonemes); Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print to aid in comprehension.
Math: Know number names and the count sequence; Count to tell the number of objects; Understand addition as putting together and adding to, and understand subtraction as taking apart and taking from; Classify objects and count the number of objects in each category.

No more than TWO Referrals.
No short term or long term placements in ASP or West Campus.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
PARTICIPATE IN ANY TWO:
Organized team or individual sport at FSHS
Extra-curricular program or club at FSHS or community-based
Part-time employment working a minimum of 8 hours a week for 2 consecutive months
Complete 10 hours of community service OR complete a community service/volunteer project.

Students will submit an application no later than May 1. The application must include the required documents listed above. Please make sure you have all materials ready before beginning the application process, as you will be required to fill out the application in one setting.
