New Orleans Levee Design Challenge

These 3rd grade students had been studying the affects of hurricane Katrina on the New Orleans' Levee. They were challenged to create a better levee using the following materials:

• Sand
• Soil
• Clay
• Paint stirrers
• Tape
• Glue
• Foil
• Sponges
• Cardboard

Their Levees were placed in a paint tray liner and then 500 ml of water was poured over and timed how long it could hold water.
