SAMPLE PROJECT 1 of 4: CONVEYOR BELT PARTS WASHER

For: JRI / JENFAB of Springfield Missouri, USA

An appliance manufacturer in Louisville Kentucky wanted to buy a duplicate of a JENFAB machine that was last built in 2012 using 2D AutoCad drawings. After careful consideration, and painful memories of the problems, re-work & delays that were encountered in the earlier build; JENFAB decided that a complete 3D re-design was needed. I got the job. The result was a perfect build, and on-time shipment! This project highlights advanced sheet metal design capability.

Formed sheet metal panels join perfectly with mechanical components. Final welded assembly is as much like an airplane as it is a process machine!

This project highlights a successful "2D to 3D conversion" of a brilliant 2012 JenFab design, that sat in a 2D archive. The photograph above shows the 2020 new machine model during factory test.

The challenge in the design of this 56 foot long parts washing machine was to produce accurate 3d models of every component so that the sheet metal could be laser cut and formed with all holes in place. Autodesk Inventor is a perfect software for this use!

Jensen's masterful design includes 65 years of experience with automated equipment. My model captures it beautifully!

The Proprietary Drawing set included all conveyor belt elements, tanks, washer system, natural gas powered dryer, electric control system, laser cutting patterns, sheet metal forming instructions, and detail drawings with parts lists for all sub-assemblies.

Because of the powerful ability of Autodesk Inventor to create accurate drawings, zero 2012 drawings were needed during assembly of the 2020 machine.

SAMPLE PROJECT 2 of 4: FUEL GAS SCRUBBER-METERING SYSTEM

For: J2B Industrial of Jacksonville FL, USA

An Engineering Procurement & Construction firm needed a packaged skid solution for a Fuel Gas Scrubbing & Metering System, meeting strict industry codes & standards. Designed with reliability, serviceability and durability in mind; the resulting J2B solution accepts 40,000 SCFM of pipeline fuel gas at up to 1,000 PSIG and delivers dry, filtered, pressure-regulated natural gas to the combustors of multiple Gas Turbine Electrical Generator sets. It provides reliable water removal, filtration, and rapid shutoff. The machine also fits inside a 40 ft highboy shipping container for preservation & transport.

Inlet Scrubber

The challenge in the design of this 45,000 lb. assembly was to fit it inside a shipping container for storage & transport. This seemingly minor aspect increases the versatility of the machine as a commercial product.

This project highlights the powerful ability of 3D model to predict and eliminate equipment interferences, as well as the ability to optimize and document every weldment. Autodesk Inventor is a perfect software for this use!

Additional services: The steel base & integral pipe supports underwent rigorous structural analysis using STAAD software. Ordering drawings for each component included geometric, as well as performance specifications.

SAMPLE PROJECT 3 of 4: REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER PURIFIER

For: Burt Process Equipment Co. of Hamden CT, USA

This Reverse-Osmosis / Deionizing / Storage System RODI system converts city water into "bio-pure" water. Until now, these systems have been built exclusively using 2D drawings in Autocad. The power of Autodesk Inventor 3D Models & Drawings by Simmons Design Service demonstrated that 2D to 3D conversion of the product line is indeed possible, profitable, and very worthwhile.

This project highlights another successful "2D to 3D conversion" of a product that was previously manufactured from 2D Autocad Drawings.

Burt Process is the master of building Customized Turn Key Reverse Osmosis systems. My model captures this technology beautifully!

The Proprietary Drawing set included all system elements, plastic tank weldments, structural frame and supports, and detail drawings with parts lists for all sub-assemblies, including all pipe.

Because of the powerful ability of Autodesk Inventor to save and store models in a vault library, many portions of this pioneering design will be used in future 3D models by Burt Process.

SAMPLE PROJECT 4 of 4: RAINWATER RECOVERY SYSTEM

For: Burt Process Equipment Co. of Hamden CT, USA

This system collects 5,000 gallons of Rainwater in an underground Cistern and uses it for Toilet Flush & Campus Irrigation. Simmons Design Service models and drawings made this "Plumber's Nightmare" a Dream Come True!

This project highlights the ability of 3D design to guarantee that items will fit where they need to go.

A challenge in this design of a rainwater recovery system was to configure the five interconnected modules to fit through a machinery room doorway at site.

Photographs of the completed system along with corresponding model views are proof that model based design is possibly the best way to plan customized systems!

The Proprietary Drawing set included all Steel Fab, Plastic Fab, and Pipe & Instrument details.
