Section 1: Scheduling Appointments (WCOnline LINK)
Making a tutoring appointment is easy!
Note 1: All tutoring appointments are FREE.
Note 2: Schedules are limited. Please try to schedule a few days in advance. If you are trying to schedule during peak times (near midterms or finals), please try to schedule at least a week in advance.
Go to wconline.simmons.edu and sign in with your simmons credentials.
Choose your course from the drop-down menu that reads "Show all Subject Area Options"
Scroll down to the schedule--find a white time slot where a tutor is available
Click on the white time slot, fill out the form, and click the "Create Appointment" button at the bottom.
For online appointments, log back in to wconline just before the appointment, click on your appointment, and click the red button that says "start or join online consultation." This will place you in the same zoom room as your tutor!
Section 2: FALL 2024 Drop in times, workshops, facilitated study groups
DROP-IN TUTORING and FACILITATED STUDY GROUPS will be available for high-demand subjects.

Section 3: Grad student support (Discord LINKS)
There are four offerings for graduate students looking for academic support.
1:1 appointments with graduate writing tutors are available for graduate students in all disciplines.
Discord servers WITH graduate peer tutors are available for graduate students in nursing, social work, and behavioral analysis.
A Discord server WITHOUT tutors is available for graduate students in HPED.

We offer graduate peer tutors in nursing and social work!
Students can create an account and log into Discord for free tutoring and study groups with fellow Simmons nursing/social work graduate students. Click on this link and follow the instructions to get started: https://discord.gg/Mh4KgQUR7q (nursing). https://discord.gg/eKB8pJy5Jt (social work).
Tutors put their schedule of availability up in the Simmons Nursing and Social Work Grad Student Discord servers. and students can meet them on the Discord server to discuss assignments.
While the tutors are available for synchronous meetings for several hours per week, students can post questions at any time and connect with classmates 24 hours a day.

Section 4: How to hire a tutor/TA/LA (recommendation LINK)
TUTORS:
Tutors are hired based upon need, according to the most recent enrollment and academic success data. Instructors can recommend tutors for the following semester via this form: https://forms.gle/oMUgHuzxCRypDN4j6 (spring 23)/ https://forms.gle/nHAS39LDUSn8faan8 (fall 23).
Learning Assistants (LAs):
LAs function as embedded tutors and are available for chemistry, math, and computer science courses. To hire an LA for your section(s) for the following semester, email jacobsonj@simmons.edu with the course number(s), the days/times that your section(s) meet, and any recommendations for tutors who might be helpful.
NOTE: this is not a guarantee that you will be able to have an LA assigned to your section(s). We will do our best!
Teaching Assistants (TAs):
TAs are currently still done through departments. Please consult admins and department chairs.
Section 5: Tutor/TA/LA training info
We have expanded our tutor training system and are now also running the Learning Assistant training program in collaboration with academic departments and the Center for Faculty Excellence.
Section 6: How students can apply to be a tutor/TA/LA (application LINK)
We hire tutors for subjects with the highest demand. In order to be a tutor, a student must have completed a course with a final grade of B+ or better. Students who can tutor multiple subjects will be especially good candidates.
