Scholarships

• The Shawnee County Farm Bureau Association will award eight $500 scholarships for those with parents or grandparents as members and continuing their education in Kansas. Applications can be found in the google classroom. The deadline is April 1st. 

• The Topeka Area Catbackers will award several $1,00 scholarships for those with parents or grandparents as members and attending KSU next year. Apply at: https://topekaareacatbackers.com/about/catbackerscholarship/. The deadline is April 1st. 

FAFSA Virtual Drop-In Help Events

• This event is being offered to provide one-on-one support for those needing assistance with filing the 2026-27 FAFSA, provided by knowledgeable financial aid professionals from across the state of Kansas.

Junior ACT

• Silver Lake will be giving the juniors the ACT test on February 24th during the school day. The ACT fee is covered for this one test by the state. All registration will be completed at school with the students. However this is NOT a required test, so if your child doesn't want to take the ACT they need to complete the opt out form, see Mrs. Liggatt. 

• There is also an ACT prep class opportunity on February 17th at Royal Valley High School from 8:10-1:15. You do have to pay a $70 fee for the class. Here is the link to register if you are interested: http://actprep.info/silverlake

ACT

• Register for the ACT by creating or signing in to an account at myact.org. There are many changes to the 2025-2026 ACT so make sure to check them out on their website. The ACT test with no writing and science cost $68. Registration is typically due 3-4 weeks prior to the test date.
