Who We Are
Since at least 1970, Silver Lake Camp has been a place for outdoor education and adventure. Located on the little gem, Silver Lake, just 15km's above Peachland you find yourself surround with the beauty of our natural environment.
Each summer, campers ages 8–16 join us for week-long programs, leadership training, and Outdoor Adventure Kamps (OAK). The camp also hosts school trips, weddings, family events, and retreats throughout the year.
At Silver Lake, we believe learning in nature helps young people grow confident, curious, and connected.
Our Roots
Operated by the Silver Lake Forest Education Society, a registered non-profit, we rely on donors, members, and funding partners to make outdoor learning accessible for all.
We gratefully acknowledge that Silver Lake Camp is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Okanagan syilx people, the original stewards of these lands.
SILVER LAKE CAMP, PEACHLAND BC — Do you remember going to camp as a child? For many of us, those days remain some of our fondest memories — a time when we could get away on our own, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and reconnect with nature and each other.
Nestled just 15 km past above downtown Peachland, Silver Lake Camp has long been a treasured part of the Okanagan, known for its forestry education programs, incredible fishing, and its spirit of outdoor adventure.
Back in 2016, the camp faced an uncertain future — but what followed was an inspiring story of renewal. Thanks to the dedication of a newly formed Board of Directors, including Russ Paton a lifetime director of our sister camp Evans Lake, and the leadership of passionate community members from the Rotary Club of Kelowna and forest industry professionals, Silver Lake Camp not only recovered — it thrived.
Nine years later, the camp is buzzing with life, laughter, and learning. The Silver Lake Forest Education Society continues to deliver its mission: fostering outdoor education and exploration in an environment where people of all ages can reconnect with nature, themselves, and one another.
Over the years, Silver Lake has seen remarkable growth. With upgrades to facilities, a beautiful new lodge, and accommodations for over 100 guests, the camp now welcomes full sessions each summer and growing numbers of schools returning year after year. The sounds of paddles on water, campfire songs, and laughter echo across the lake once again.
From canoeing and hiking to low ropes, archery, logger sports, and nature walks, Silver Lake Camp continues to inspire teamwork, confidence, and lifelong friendships. The camp’s combination of natural beauty, modern facilities, and meaningful programming has truly re-established it as the go-to outdoor destination in the Okanagan.
As Past Chair of the Rotary Club of Kelowna and current Silver Lake Forest Education Society Chair, James Kay reflects:
“Silver Lake Camp is a jewel in Peachland and the Okanagan. When we learned of its challenges, we knew we had to act — and today, we’re proud to see it thriving for future generations.”
At Silver Lake, we believe that every child deserves the chance to experience the wonder of camp — regardless of background, ability, or financial situation. That’s why we’re proud to offer Campership Programs, which provide financial assistance to families who may not otherwise be able to send their children to camp. These camperships open the door to adventure, growth, and friendship for youth from across the Okanagan and beyond.
We are also deeply committed to inclusion through our Autism Programs, designed to create safe, supportive, and joyful outdoor experiences for children and youth on the autism spectrum. These specialized sessions provide additional staff support, smaller group settings, and sensory-friendly activities that allow every camper to succeed and shine.
Together, these initiatives reflect Silver Lake Camp’s enduring mission — to make nature, community, and confidence-building accessible to all.
As we celebrate nine successful years of growth and renewal, Silver Lake Camp continues to rely on the strength of its community. We invite you to be part of our story — as a volunteer, sponsor, donor, or group looking to experience all that Silver Lake has to offer.
Together, we’re ensuring that the next generation of campers will create their own unforgettable memories by the shores of Silver Lake.

2016 - SILVER LAKE CAMP, PEACHLAND BC. - Do you remember going to camp as a child? It seems that this experience generates some of the fondest (and strongest) memories in many of us and takes us back to a time when things were simpler. A time, when we disconnected from technology and reconnected with nature and the people around us. Most families around the Okanagan know about that great little camp just 15km passed downtown Peachland being well known for its Forestry Education programs and great fishing.
The camp recently experienced many changes and was at risk of not operating for the 2016 season but thanks to the hard work of the newly formed Board of Directors and volunteers from our sister camp, Evans Lake the camp is well on it's way to being back on track. New leadership at Silver Lake consists of the legacy and knowledge of some previous board members along with a group of fresh faces from the Rotary Club of Kelowna, and a long time dedicated Board Member from Evans Lake who is our new General Manager & Program Director; all with an equal level of enthusiasm and commitment to ensuring the continued success of Silver Lake Forest Education Society and Camp.
The mission of Silver Lake Camp is to continue this shared legacy of outdoor education and exploration in an environment designed to encourage meaningful and collaborative learning. An opportunity for all ages to reconnect to nature, themselves and others. Renovations and upgrades were completed this Spring & Summer and camp sessions were sold out. Additionally we had school groups from the Okanagan return to Silver Lake in 2017 with rave reviews of the camp experience; that experience was outdone in 2018 with returning 2017 schools and newly attending schools all rebooking for 2019.
Silver Lake Camp offers outdoor education and activities such as canoing, hiking, swimming, low ropes, logger sports, archery, field sports, fishing, nature walks, and games. It builds camaraderie, independence, confidence, and fun. The new lodge, accomodations for 100, and spectacular setting and amenities makes it the go-to destination in the Region.
James Kay, Past Chair of Rotary Kelowna and Silver Lake Forest Education Society says “Silver Lake Camp is a jewel in Peachland and the Okanagan, so when The Rotary Club of Kelowna learned of the plight, eight Rotarians knew we had to act, and together with other Directors and Volunteers, we are actively improving and re-establishing the Camp for years to come.”
Silver Lake Camp Needs You we are looking for organizations who want to utilize the camp. In order to continue running this education camp that has changed the lives of tens of thousands of Okanagan children we are asking for the community to come together to show their support by becoming a volunteer, sponsor, or donator of Silver Lake Camp! All contributions will go directly to the Camp. To find out more on how you can help Silver Lake Camp: website: www.silverlakecamp.net email: camp@silverlakecamp.net or call us at 7787692442
