Scripture App Builder(SAB)

Description

The Scripture App Builder course is a self-paced course that gives you the required flexibility according to your time. This course is uncertified, meaning that you will not receive a certificate upon completion. However, you will be assessed and graded by a mentor/instructor to track your progress.

General Instructions

1. Read the learning objectives and note the prerequisites

2. Watch the introduction video to understand what Scripture App Builder is about

3. Thereafter, follow the instructions for each lesson.

4. Please submit the final asssessment to your mentor/instructor.

5. This course is based upon Scripture App Builder version 10.

Learning Objectives

1. Is able to understand the basic procedure for building a Scripture App

2. Will build a Scripture App with audio and illustrations

3. Will install and use a Scripture app on an Android device

Prerequisites

Before you begin this course, please make sure you meet the following requirements.

A laptop or desktop PC running Windows 8.x or 10

4 GB of free hard disk space

4 GB of RAM

An Android smartphone (At Least with Android 5 and above)

A USB cable to connect the smartphone to the computer

An internet connection (required only for the build of the first app).

Lesson 2: Installation

Follow the instructions given in the Scripture App Builder - Installation Instructions manual. First read the manual in order to understand how to install and setup Scripture App Builder. The steps given in the manual include the following steps.

  • Downloading and installing Scripture App Builder software

  • Downloading and installing the Java Development Kit

  • Downloading and installing the Android Software Development Kit

  • Downloading Aeneas software for audio-text synchronization

Lesson 3: Initial Setup

Follow the instructions given in the Initial Setup document.

Lesson 4: Creating an Scripture App

Follow the instructions given in the Creating a Scripture App document. The data files used in the instructions can be found here. Download the data files folders onto your computer where you can easily navigate to them.

As an exercise, create a Scripture app for another language.

Take screenshots of your app definition with Scripture App Builder. Share the screenshots with your mentor/instructor for review.

Lesson 5: Working with Audio and Illustrations

Follow the instructions given in the Working with Audio and Illustrations document. The data files used in the instructions can be found here. Download the data files folders onto your computer where you can easily navigate to them.


As an exercise update your Scripture app for another language with audio and illustrations, if possble.

Lesson 6: Build and Distribution

Follow the instructions given in the Build and Distribution document.


Assessment

1. Share the apps you have created with your mentor/instructor for evaluation.

2. Print out the SAB final quiz document. Then answer the questions. Then share your answers with your mentor/instructor.
