This module will cover the basic use of Bloom. This course is self-paced. You will work your way through the Learning to Use Bloom manual. Each lesson in the Learning to Use Bloom manual will show you how to use one part of Bloom.
Download the Learning to Use Bloom (LTUB) manual and follow through with the following lessons.
For each lesson, you will be required to read the listed number of pages from the manual.
Also, watch the videos for each lesson if any.
Thereafter, do the assignments for each.
Please submit the assignment for each lesson to your mentor/instructor.

Download the Bloom installer from the Bloom Library website (https://bloomlibrary.org/page/create/downloads ). Choose the version of Bloom for your circumstances and download it. For most people that will be the "Release Version." After you have downloaded the installer, install Bloom on your computer.
The Art of Reading is a collection of black and white line drawings from SIL International that you may use without cost. To download the Art of Reading illustration collection, click this link. Once you have downloaded the appropriate version, install the collection on your computer.

Create a new Local Language collection in Bloom.
Choose English as the language for the collection.
Choose My English Books as the collection name. This is the collection where you will practice.

In the collection, you created in the previous lesson, create a new book using the Basic Book template. Your book should contain at least 8 pages.
Add a title, an author, and copyright information to the book.
When you add pages, choose different page layouts. Add text to the pages that have a text frame.
Add images to the cover page and all other pages that have an image frame. You can get images from the Art of reading, from copying and pasting or from a file on your computer.
Practice reordering pages.
Practice deleting pages.
When you are done you should see the new book in your collection.

On one of the pages of your book, change the format of the page using the buttons or keyboard shortcuts.
Change the format of the Normal Style.
Be sure to practice changing the font, the font size, line spacing, word spacing, and emphasis in the Character tab.
Be sure to practice changing the indent, the alignment, and paragraph spacing in The Paragraph tab.
Note that any changes you make to the Normal Style will be seen on every page that has a text box that uses the Normal Style.

Bloom can create three different types of PDF files for your book. Create each one of them. The three are:
A "Simple" PDF
A "Booklet Cover" PDF
A "Booklet Insides" PDF
Create the three types of PDFs for the book you created in Lesson 4, then save them to your computer. Then submit them to your mentor/instructor.

Give the book the title "Agama Lizard." Choose the illustration, Pic Cover.jpg for the cover. Fill out the relevant information on the Credits Page.
Create pages for the text and choose an illustration for each page. Include the copyright information for the illustrations.
Add each group of two or three sentences to each page.
Choose any page layout with an image placeholder. Format the Normal Style with font size 28, 2.0 line spacing, and wide word spacing.
Create the three types of PDFs for the Agama Lizard book, then save them to your computer. Then submit them to your mentor/instructor.
