Dr. Virdi is an award-winning historian whose research focuses on the ways medicine and technology impact the lived experiences of disabled people. She teaches courses on disability histories, the history of medicine, and health activism at the University of Delaware.
At the age of 4, her world went quiet when a bout with meningitis left her deaf and shifted how she navigated the world. Dr. Virdi’s talk is titled - “My Braids Don’t Hide My Ears: Growing Up as a Deaf Sikh.” We are excited and honored to have her share her work and experiences with us on this special occasion.
