6th Grade ELA

Welcome to ELA!

I'm Mrs. Hertlein (pronounced hurt-line). I grew up in Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's degree in English and History Education. 

I spent two years teaching Reading and Humanities in Colorado before falling in love with Key West and moving here. I have taught middle school ELA and History here for 10 years, but this is my first year teaching at Sigsbee. I am so excited to be here!

ELA is all about language; we'll be reading, writing, listening, and speaking in many different forms this year. It is my passion to find ways for my students to connect to what they read and express themselves through their own writing. I look forward to a productive and passion-filled year with my students.
