Shortly after Alex’s 4th birthday, he started having trouble walking and stumbling. After many doctor visits to his pediatrician, specialists, tests, and scans, he was diagnosed with high grade ependymoma gliomas of the spine.
Alex battled cancer for 7 years. He had five surgeries to remove tumors in his spine, four rounds of radiation treatments to his brain and spine, immunotherapy, IV Chemo weekly and a regimen of several oral chemo medications on a daily basis.
He was in a clinical trial and taking an immunotherapy drug twice a day along with a chemo drug five days a month. Alex was seen at the Jimmy Fund Clinic on a regular basis and had MRI's approximately every 8 weeks at Boston Children's Hospital. However, it was unsuccessful in treating Alex's cancer.
Alex had all treatment options available to him. As of now, there is no cure for Alex's cancer.
On April 12th 2025, Alex lost his courageous battle with cancer. While our hearts are heavy, we are more determined than ever to ride for him, to celebrate his life, and to carry forward the light he brought into ours.
