ABOUT SHYAM LAL COLLEGE
Shyam Lal College (SLC) stands as a distinguished educational institution, providing an enriching and inclusive environment for the cultivation of excellence across academic, cultural, sports and various student-driven pursuits. Established in 1964 by the visionary entrepreneur Padmashree (Late) Shri Shyam Lal Gupta, SLC is a co-educational constituent college affiliated with the University of Delhi. Over the past several years, SLC has been consistently advancing towards the attainment of academic excellence. In 2023, SLC reached a significant milestone by achieving an A++ grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). This achievement further solidifies SLC's commitment to providing a high standard of education. The college has also maintained an impressive ranking in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for Colleges in India, securing the 43rd position among the country's top colleges in 2025. Additionally, SLC has been selected to participate in the DBT STAR College Program under the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2020, demonstrating its dedication to excellence in education.
ABOUT DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS
The Department of Mathematics at Shyam Lal College (University of Delhi) is renowned as a pioneer in its field. Established in 1964, this distinguished department is home to 13 highly qualified faculty members. Over the years, it has achieved significant milestones, including the registration of 27 patents and the publication of more than 180 research papers across various branches of Mathematics. Presently, the department's faculty members actively supervise multiple research scholars, contributing to the advancement of mathematical knowledge. Throughout its history, the Department has displayed remarkable progress in its academic programs. It has successfully secured funding for research projects from SERB-DST and has a track record of patent registrations. The Department offers a comprehensive graduate program in Mathematics, overseeing B. Sc. (H) Mathematics and B. Sc. Physical Sciences, for which it maintains a well-equipped computer lab with cutting-edge software. The distinguished faculty members are actively involved in continuous research and developmental initiatives across a spectrum of domains. Furthermore, "Anantsparshi, The Mathematical Society, SLC," established in 2016. This society hosts an annual Mathematical Festival known as "GANITA" to enhance students' mathematical proficiency and skills." The Department of Mathematics successfully organized an international conference entitled "International Conference on Advanced in Pure and Applied Mathematics" in February 2024. In addition, all accepted papers have been published in AIP conference proceedings.
